Minimum Qualifications: Education or Training: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Technology or associate’s degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline required. Master’s preferred. RHIT or RHIA certification or related certifications required.
Years of Experience in Field:
Prefer three years of related work experience in profession or a combination of work and teaching (i.e. Medical Coding; Medical Billing/Reimbursement and Concepts of Disease) required. Experience working with diverse student populations preferred. |

| Description of Duties:
To develop a healthy and caring environment that offers a variety of options and opportunities for active participation of students in the learning process. Major responsibilities of faculty include five areas: teaching, professional development, college service, service to students and public service as defined in the “Role and Responsibilities of Faculty” which is published in the Faculty Handbook. Responsible for planning, developing and teaching the coding and reimbursement certificate program within Health Information Technology degree. Assist with program promotion, recruitment and retention of students. Mentor students in the Health Information Technology student organization. Work with local high schools, Chamber of Commerce, potential employers and professional associations in meeting the needs of the health information area. Must be knowledgeable of the Health Information industry, with a proven record of growth. Positive human relations skills required. |
