Veterans Affairs - Application Process for New Students

(Chapter 30, 31 1606, 1607, and Chapter 35)

 

Application for VA education benefits for Chapter 30, 35, 1606, 1607 who HAVE NOT used their benefits in the last 3 years, and first time applicants

  • Go to www.va.gov
  • On the left-hand side click Benefits
  • In the drop-down box click Education
  • On the left-hand side again, click Education Benefits
  • In the drop-down box click How to Apply for Benefits
  • “Click HERE for an electronic application form that may be completed and submitted online.â€
  • The VONAPP will appear in a new window
  • Click Start VONAPP (Veterans Online Application)
  • You will need to create a login and password, then login and complete the application.
  • Be sure to save or your data will be lost
  • Submit the online application

There will be a processing time of up to 3 months.  You should receive a Certificate of Eligibility within that time.  If you have not, contact the VA directly with the number at the bottom of this page.

Application for VA education benefits for those who HAVE used their benefits in the past 3 years.

  • Chapters 30, 1606, and 1607 require a VA form 22-1995.  Those who are Chapter 35 require VA form 22-5495. 
    • NOTE:  Both forms are available from either your previous school’s VA Office, or from CFCC’s VA Office.

  • Go to www.va.gov
  • On the left-hand side click Benefits
  • In the drop-down box click Education
  • On the left-hand side again, click Education Benefits
  • In the drop-down box click How to Apply for Benefits
  • “Click HERE for an electronic application form that may be completed and submitted online.â€
