ADMISSION CRITERIA
To apply for admission into the Corrections or Law Enforcement certificate program, each applicant must:
  • Be at least 19 years of age.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement.
  • Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military (if applicable).
  • Be of good moral character.**
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Pass a physical examination by a licensed physician (MD or DO) or physician's assistant within six months of the start of class.
  • Be in good academic standing at Central Florida Community College and not have any outstanding financial obligations to the college.
  • Complete the CFCC Admission Process and declare a major code of 7244 for Correctional Officer.
  • Submit official, sealed, college and high school transcripts from all schools attended to the CFCC Admissions Office (Bldg 5).
  • Have passed the Florida Basic Abilities Test (FBAT) Corrections version, or COBAT.
In addition, the applicant must submit:
  1. A copy of scores on the F-BAT for Corrections or COBAT that are less than two years old from the start of class.
  2. A completed/signed Central Florida Community College Criminal Justice Institute Applicant Questionnaire.
    Note: All the above information must be submitted as a package
Admission to the program will be based on the following:
  1. Review of application package.
  2. Completed questionnaire.
  3. Background check (if required)
**The perpetration by an individual of any act or acts, whether criminally prosecuted or not, listed in Rule 11B-27.0011(4b) would preclude admission to any Criminal Justice Institute program.
